First Open Cut Project – Red Lion Water Line Installation
Aaron Enterprises completes its inaugural open cut project, installing 400 feet of water line in Red Lion, PA—marking the beginning of decades of utility infrastructure expertise.


First Road Bore & Sewer Extension Project Completed
Aaron Enterprises expands its service capabilities with its first road boring operation, completing a 300-foot sewer extension and establishing expertise in trenchless underground construction.

First Liner Plate Tunnel – Pioneering Underground Construction
Aaron Enterprises constructs its first liner plate tunnel and transitions to exclusively performing road bore operations, solidifying its reputation in specialized underground infrastructure.

First Boring Machine Acquisition – Michael Byrne 36″ Auger
Aaron Enterprises invests in its first major piece of heavy equipment—a Michael Byrne 36″ Auger Boring Machine—enabling larger and more complex underground boring projects.
1981
Aaron Enterprises Officially Incorporates
After five successful years of growth and excellence, Vince and Kathy Rice formally incorporate as Aaron Enterprises, Inc., establishing a foundation for continued expansion.

1982

Pennsylvania State Capitol Building – Landmark Tunnel Project
One of the most prestigious projects in company history, Aaron Enterprises spends three years at the PA Capitol Building installing two 600-foot liner plate tunnels for critical infrastructure.
1996
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Services Launched
Aaron Enterprises adds Horizontal Directional Drilling to its service offerings, enabling installation of smaller diameter lines at longer distances with greater precision and minimal surface disruption.

2002

Soil Stabilization Services Added
Aaron Enterprises expands its underground construction capabilities by adding soil stabilization services to its comprehensive project offerings.
2007
Pennsylvania Avenue Facility – Growing to Meet Demand
Aaron Enterprises relocates to a larger facility on Pennsylvania Avenue in York, PA, accommodating continued growth and expanded operations.

2008

First Guided Pilot Crossing – Precision Underground Technology
Aaron Enterprises completes its first guided pilot crossing project at Precipio Industrial Park, installing two bores exceeding 180 feet under Route 40—showcasing advanced precision boring capabilities.
2010
300 Cloverleaf Road – New Corporate Headquarters
Experiencing another significant growth phase, Aaron Enterprises relocates to the current state-of-the-art facility at 300 Cloverleaf Road.

2014

PA Turnpike Box Culvert Installation
Aaron Enterprises successfully executed a complex culvert installation, employing a sophisticated multi-stage approach including directional drilling for soil stabilization, pilot tube microtunneling, and specialized tunneling methods. By utilizing auger boring for RCP crossings and precision-engineered annular grouting, the team ensured superior structural integrity. This project highlights Aaron Enterprises’ capability to deliver high-precision infrastructure solutions under challenging geotechnical conditions.
2018
Turtle Tunnel – Largest Pedestrian Tunnel Project
Aaron Enterprises completed its largest pedestrian tunnel project—the Game Day Tunnel connecting Cole Fieldhouse locker rooms to Byrd Stadium at the University of Maryland. The 16.3-foot diameter liner plate tunnel required advanced soil pretreatment and horizontal grout injection before tunneling. AEI installed 185 linear feet of liner plate tunnel, waterproof membrane, shotcrete lining, and a finished concrete floor—demonstrating expertise in complex, large-scale pedestrian infrastructure.

2019

Leadership Transition – Next Generation Takes the Helm
Eric Harlacher assumes the role of President at Aaron Enterprises, with Paul Grove promoted to Vice President, ensuring continued leadership and company excellence for future generations.
2021
Amtrak 72″ Concrete Jacking Project
Aaron Enterprises successfully completed a critical 72″ concrete jacking installation for Amtrak in Bowie, Maryland. When traditional dewatering methods failed and caused sinkholes that shut down Amtrak’s busy Northeast Corridor, AEI’s expertise proved invaluable. The team implemented an innovative horizontal soil stabilization program and used precision hand tunnel methods to install the steel casing—demonstrating the problem-solving capabilities that define AEI’s reputation in complex railroad infrastructure projects.

Trenchless Technologies- Project of the Year
Aaron Enterprises earned industry-wide recognition as a key contributor to the Champlain Hudson Power Express—named Trenchless Technology’s 2025 New Installation Project of the Year. AEI’s scope included over 85,000 linear feet of HDPE pipe work, featuring 42,500 LF of 8″ and 3″ HDPE installed via Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), precision fusion welding, internal bead removal, mandrel testing, and guided pilot boring for steel casing installations. This prestigious award underscores Aaron Enterprises’ position as an industry leader in large-scale trenchless infrastructure projects and highlights nearly five decades of innovation and excellence in underground construction.
