Project Details
Furnishing and installation of 235 LF of 48” diameter steel casing by trenchless methods. The crossing included soil stabilization along the bore path. AEI excavated a pit behind a slab on grade warehouse located adjacent to the main freight rails running along the Allegheny River into Pittsburgh. The crew installed a series of horizontal grout pipes and pumped a soil stabilizing grout to solidify the surrounding earth. A 48″ hydraulic steer head was used to auger bore the casing into place. The storm water crossing ended along the embankment of the Allegheny River where a barge was used to remove the head and complete the outfall structure.
